About the shop
We're the shop Freehold calls when the dealership quote doesn't make sense.
Our story
Main Street Auto Care opened in 1999, when Mike Delaney β then a dealership master technician tired of upselling work customers didn't need β rented a two-bay garage on Main Street with one lift and a toolbox.
Twenty-seven years later, we're an eight-bay shop with a dozen technicians, but the rule from day one hasn't changed: we only sell work the car actually needs. Every estimate comes with the old parts in a box and a plain-English explanation. If you don't need it, we'll tell you β even if it costs us the sale.
That approach built us a customer base that spans three generations of Freehold families. Most of our new customers arrive because a neighbor told them to come see us.
Credentials that matter
Mike Delaney β Owner
ASE Master certified since 1998. Started turning wrenches at 16 in his uncle's shop in Manalapan. Still test-drives the tricky diagnostics himself.
The team
Twelve technicians with a combined 140+ years of experience β including two former dealership master techs and our diagnostic specialist, Priya, who the other shops in town call when they're stuck.
How we work
We listen first
Tell us the symptom in your own words. Then we verify it ourselves before quoting anything.
Written estimate, always
Every job gets a written estimate with parts and labor broken out. No surprises at pickup β the price we quote is the price you pay.
Show, don't just tell
Old parts back in a box. Photos of what we found. If we recommend future work, we rank it: safety now, maintenance soon, watch item.
Come see the difference.
Stop by, call, or book online β we'll take good care of you and your car.
